March COVID-19 Update: In light of the Ministry of Health's announcement to limit all indoor gatherings to 100 people or less, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming season of Lysander's Aunty. All ticketholders are being contacted with information around how they can exchange their tickets or receive a credit. You can read more about this decision and our other COVID-19 changes here.
The course of true love never did run smooth. Especially out in the sticks…
In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, young lovers Lysander and Hermia defy the Duke of Athens and flee toward his aunt’s house in the woods. But who is this law-snubbing, free-loving aunty? What’s she doing in the bush? And what happens when the sharp Athenian law comes knocking at her door?
In the tradition of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and Ophelia Thinks Harder comes a radical reworking of one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays, complete with a comedic Kiwi twist.
There will be sword-fights. There will be Tim Tams. You're not in Athens now, Dr. Ropata.
Why YOU WILL love this play
“Lysander’s Aunty is a Court commission; a brand-new New Zealand play. It will make you think deeply and it will make you laugh hard."
Artistic Adviser/Lead Director, Ross Gumbley
