Harold Moot The Court Theatre 2016

Harold has worked in the professional theatre industry for over 33 years. After studying Visual Communication at the Christchurch Polytechnic where he majored in 3 Dimensional Studies, he joined the Court Theatre as a member of the set construction team. 

Since 1990, he has been freelancing as a designer, set builder and scenic artist. He has designed extensively for a number of shows at The Court Theatre including On The Rocks, Glorious, Eros, Four Flat Whites in Italy, Backstage, Who wants to be 100...?, Three Days of Rain, I Scream, Crumpy, A Room of Ones Own, and in 2011 the inaugural production in their new theatre, Shortcut to Happiness. Other works for the Court include Grease, King of the Gyms, SNAP! You can Always Hand Them Back, Lady Killers, Mary Poppins, Macbeth, Educating Rita, Legally Blonde the Musical, Chicago Ropeable, Easy Money, Misery, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pink Hammers and Jersey Boys in 2020.

In addition to his work for The Court Theatre, he has designed Jersey Boys for T&G Productions Ltd shows in Auckland and Wellington in 2021. For Showbiz Christchurch he designed for Hot Shoe Shuffle, The Full Monty, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Wicked. For the Wellington Musical Theatre, Downstage, Circa, he worked on productions including My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar, Black Comedy and Telling Stories. He also designed the set for the New Zealand premiere of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast for Showbiz Entertainment and Miss Saigon for the NZ Music Consortium.

Harold has worked in film, television and advertising including working at Weta Workshop. This year he was also awarded the Out of the Limelight Theatre Award.
