They’re out of their depth
It’s been a while since Walter, Pat and Mick have seen Stu. He’s been absent from the local working men’s club since Stu wrote off the new boat he spent his life savings on and landed himself in a wheelchair.
Reunited, the men seize the opportunity to enter the local fishing competition to win Stu a replacement boat. All they have to do is catch the biggest fish.
Easy, right?
Well not if you have no fishing skills whatsoever, nor the actual means to catch the fish.
This hilarious new comedy from award-winning playwright Jamie McCaskill takes a look at a bunch of hard-as-nails Māori and Pakeha men navigating life in small-town Aotearoa.

Press Reviews
"The timing was spot on and the moments of farce delivered with professional panache in a play which doesn't simply emit warm geniality – it blasts it forth with the emotional thermostat set on high."
Christopher Moore
"McCaskill has said that he hopes audiences have a good laugh and come away feeling empowered to be a New Zealander - with The Biggest I think he’s managed exactly that."
Sophie Ricketts
"Robert Lloyd is warm, energetic and charming as swandri-wearing Māori serial shagger Walter Mack, and his fearful unwillingness to engage with the serious issues of his own health and wellbeing will be recognisable to many. Mark Hadlow is such a physical performer that it's a lot of fun watching him channel this energy into a frustrated alpha male who feels trapped by his wheelchair and humiliated by his impaired mobility."
Erin Harrington

"What a stunning piece of theatre. I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up to go to a show about fishing but it took me completely by surprise. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it gave me all the feels. It's so much more than a standard comedy. There is so much heart, there are such great messages throughout the play, and the performances were incredible. Very very well done and I recommend everyone, especially if you're Kiwi, especially if you've spent any time in a small NZ town (which let's face it, is most of the country) to go and see it.""I really loved this play because it was so relatable. Small town Aotearoa stuff! It took me back to my childhood and teens growing up in Tuakau. I could associate each character with people I knew in the town and all the issues comical, serious and emotive, it was all there. I just kept on laughing even after the show was over, tracing back through some of the multiple layers of humour that were there. Having a great laugh at having parts of my life mirrored back at me.....Cassie, (Juanita) you played out my young years in small-town Tuakau beautifully. I loved it!""What an amazing story this was! I had read the reviews so I expected it to be good but I was blown away. This play had me in fits of laughter, and then in tears. The acting was brilliant and I was really sucked in to the characters. This is a heart-warming tale of friendship and keeps you invested til the end. I would 100% recommend this show!!!!""This was my first time live theater and was not disappointed. Enjoyed right from the start. Having lived in a small coastal town I totally related to the characters. Ten thumbs up to the actors for a great show. 100% recommended, don't miss out on a emotional rollercoaster.""The script was incredibly witty and uniqely kiwi. The acting was amazing, I felt genuine emotions throughout the performance. I laughed, I cried. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at the theater "
