The inaugural Pink Hammer Workshop is an absolute disaster.
Annabel, Helen, Louise and Siobhan turn up, looking forward to learning carpentry skills from a pioneering, female furniture maker… but instead they find Woody, an out-of-work, disgruntled builder who’s less than impressed to find four sheilas amongst his claw hammers.
Not the sort of women to back down from a challenge, the group convince Woody to teach them the tricks of the trade in this hilarious and heart-warming Kiwi comedy that’ll have you doubled over in laughter.
WHY WE LOVE THIS PLAY
“The Pink Hammer is Kiwi comedy at its best. It’s quirky as all hell; it’s very funny; it provides phenomenally strong roles for four women – and one guy! – but more than anything else, these are recognisable New Zealanders, which is why this is an outstanding play to produce.”

PRESS REVIEWS
"Together, this cast of five nailed a comedy which, despite all its outward affability and talent to amuse, reveals something deeper about human relationships."
Chris Moore
"It is a charming, gently funny meditation on friendship, feminism, and the assumptions we make about others."
Kate Divett
"One by one we meet the women whose developing stories are the real meat of the play, together that of with their impromptu host."
Lindsay Clark

"A clever script, strong roles for a well cast group of great actors and lots of poignant moments. Loved it.""A compliment to the great cast who performed an interesting play with such skill on Monday. We are privileged to have such a high standard of performance in our theatre.""I have been to a number of the shows at The Court Theatre and they have been amazing. However, last night I came to The Pink Hammer and it was outstanding. The story and acting was brilliant. It was funny, sad, and relatable. To laugh, cry, and to listen to a man cry next to me is credit to the acting. It touched my heart and many others in the audience.
Definitely one of my favourite shows.
Well done for producing incredible shows and providing opportunities to watch amazing, talented actors to people from many different walks in life.
Thank you very much.""Once again an excellent ensemble performance by a superb cast.
The talent on display at The Court Theatre never ceases to amaze me. Long may you continue.
Best wishes. Jo ""The PH is such a powerful exploration of the desire to find belonging in a world where conforming to social and gendered norms still persists. Shattering these perceptions in the iconic Kiwi bloke asylum of the workshop provided a wonderfully witty window into the serious social problems which still afflict the well being of our society. It is a play which highlights the endeavours each troubled character is willing to take to momentarily escape from the various duties in life which keep them shackled to restrictive and repressive roles. Empowerment is what we all yearn for in life and sometimes facing the tragedies of ourselves and others can leave us with a poignant reminder that we can powerfully redirect the paths of our destiny. A phenomenal performance, magnificently directed and the perfect balance of humour, drama and meaning delivered. "Submit Review
