Kathleen Burns 2016

Kathleen is a graduate of the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (Bachelor of Performing Arts).

She has been an improviser with The Court Jesters since 2003, and still performs in Scared Scriptless. She has appeared in several Jesters shows including The Early Early Late Show; A Very Merry Scriptless and A Christmas Carol (2016, 2017 and 2018) as well as other improvised shows in theatres and festivals around the country.

Her previous Court Theatre credits include Saving Grace; The Perfumed Garden; Midnight in Moscow; Five Women Wearing The Same Dress; Grease; The Women; White Rabbit, Red Rabbit; Blood Brothers; One Man, Two Guvnors; Hamlet: The Video Game (The Stage Show); The Ladykillers; The Wonderful Wizard of Oz; Macbeth; Educating Rita; Ropable; The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time; Steel Magnolias; Titus Andronicus; Les Liaisons Dangereuses and The Pink Hammer.

Kathleen’s other theatre credits include Avenue Q; The Truth Game; Flagons and Foxtrots (Fortune Theatre); Space Bitches (BATS); Austen Found (The Herald); Instant Anatomy (Q Theatre); Hotel (Site Specific Theatre); Mother Goose; A Servant to Two Masters; Under Milk Wood (Circa); The Complete History of the Royal New Zealand Navy: Abridged (RNZN) and Compose Yourself (Christchurch Symphony Orchestra).

Kathleen’s history with children’s theatre at The Court includes performing in Jack and the Beanstalk; The Gingerbread Man; Antarctic Adventure; Why Are My Parents So Boring; Aladdin meets Cinderella; Little Red Riding Hood; Rapunzel and Thumbelina. In 2017 she wrote her first show, Cinderella in Space, and in 2018 she made her directorial debut with The Littlest Ninja.
