If you didn’t know her name before, you soon will. Meet Hedwig.
To walk away, you’ve got to leave something behind – and so Hansel Schmidt does, undergoing a traumatic sex-change that transforms him into Hedwig. With her new identity, Hedwig escapes the iron curtain to begin life in the west with her freshly-minted American husband.
Everything seems perfect until her husband leaves her and Hedwig must fend for herself. With nothing left, she returns to her first love: music.
The winner of four Tony Awards, and a show that Rolling Stone called “the best rock musical ever,” Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a darkly humorous tale about sacrifice, gender identity and love in all its forms. Set against an electrifying, glam-rock soundtrack, Hedwig and her band The Angry Inch relive the heart-breaking and hilarious history that led her to this moment.

Press Reviews
"Director Michael Lee Porter has assembled a fine team here and produced another mind-blowing show."
Patrick Shepherd
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a remarkable production that’s easily one of the best things that The Court Theatre has staged in recent memory. It will leave your heart full and (more importantly) whole."
Erin Harrington
"A glam-rock extravaganza exploring the origin story of an outrageous gender-queer protagonist through a rock concert format may have been a risky choice for The Court Theatre, but the end result is one of the most entertaining and surprisingly poignant shows the company has produced in recent memory."
Ruth Agnew
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a rollicking night out that will make you laugh, feel, and think all at the same time."
Jordon Jones

"10/10 for the cast and 11/10 for Adam Rennie. Have seen the show twice already and I can’t wait to go again! ""Opening night was amazing taking me on a life journey with all its pinnacles and depths of every emotion imaginable. Such talent on the stage made it easy to rave about to everyone I know. A must see!""Absolutely an amazing show from start to finish. Funny, moving and did I mention amazing!!""Outstanding - cast, band, director, all crew - every moment. ""A brilliant show performed by an outstanding cast. Adam Rennie & Phoebe Hurst were amazing together, some of the best harmonising I have ever heard. Their powerhouse vocals just blew us away. The Band were fantastic, I felt like I was back in the '70s. This play had me laughing, singing, crying, and empathising... thank you Court Theatre for a phenomenal show.""I waited a long time to finally be able to see Hedwig live so I was both nervous and excited to see what The Court would do with it. I was not let down. From lighting to props and a seriously talented cast, every detail was perfect. Hedwig is a funny and larger than life but relatable character and Adam did a great job of getting that across. Thank you so much for bringing this show to our city!"
