Pouākai doesn’t know who he is – but he knows that everybody is scared of him. Brave Maia proves to be the exception when she finds this lonely bird and courageously decides to teach him how to fly.

Retelling the legend of the Pouākai, this inspiring bi-lingual story of self-discovery is beautifully brought to life through music, puppetry, kapa haka, waiata and te reo Māori.

Following its successful Canterbury tour, The Court Theatre will tour Matatihi: Maia’s Journey of Bravery to South Island primary schools from 11 May - 12 June 2020. Performances at 9.30am and 2pm Monday-Friday.
