POSTPONEMENT UPDATE | 03.09.2021
Due to the uncertainty caused by the current Alert Level for COVID-19 in Waitaha / Canterbury and with Auckland (where our cast is located) remaining at Alert Level 4 until 13 September at the earliest, The Court Theatre has decided to postpone the Potted Potter shows that were scheduled to run from 25 September – 16 October 2021.
Instead, these shows will now be added to our highly anticipated 2022 season. Exact dates are yet to be confirmed, but as soon as that happens, you will be amongst the first to know!
Affected ticket holders will be contacted directly.
Please join us in wishing all the creatives behind Potted Potter all the best; we can’t wait to welcome them to The Court Theatre stage in 2022!
About the show:
Playing to sold-out houses all over the world, Potted Potter takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books (and a real-life game of Quidditch) into 70 hilarious minutes.
Even if you don't know the difference between a horcrux and a Hufflepuff, Potted Potter will make you roar with laughter. Created by two-time Olivier Award nominated actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, Potted Potter is perfect for ages six to Dumbledore (who is very old indeed).
“Blissfully funny, a winner in every way. This show is a crowd-pleaser."

COVID-19 and Vaccination Information
The Court Theatre under current Covid-19 traffic light setting
Update: 06.04.22
Vaccination Passes are no longer required:
Under the current covid-19 ‘red’ traffic light setting, The Court Theatre now no longer requires visitors to have a current My Vaccine Pass for entry.
However, all visitors eight-years-old and over (as per Ministry of Health guidelines) are required to bring and wear a mask indoors within The Court Theatre premises. This applies whether in the auditorium, the foyer or the classroom. Unless you are medically exempt from wearing a mask, these can only be removed while eating or drinking.
These changes will enable us to maximise opportunities to operate at capacity, and as safely as possible, for our audience members, staff and cast members.
For more information, please visit the Covid-19 Update section of our website. For FAQ in regard to COVID-19 and how it will affect your visit with us please visit here.
For more information, please refer to the Government's COVID-19 website for the most up to date information.
The Court Theatre and Vaccine Certificates
Update: 19.11.2021
Under the COVID-19 Protection Framework, more commonly called the traffic light system, to be introduced soon, the Government has mandated that indoor events (such as performances) will require staff and customers to be fully vaccinated.
Once the Ministry of Health advises that Canterbury can move to the traffic light system, The Court Theatre will require visitors to have a current vaccination certificate for entry to shows, or to access food or beverage, for people 12-years-old and over. This will enable us to maximise opportunities to operate at capacity, and as safely as possible, for our audience members, staff and cast members.
We will follow Government guidelines pertaining to the use of exemption certificates.
If you are not vaccinated by the time of your booked performance, then we will follow our re-booking (for a performance after you have been fully vaccinated) or refund process.
The implementation for the COVID-19 Protection Framework is still in development. While this progresses, we want to give everyone enough time to get fully vaccinated so that, once it is implemented, we can begin to share our community life again.
You can find more information about vaccination certificates here.

HousekeepingThis performance will be staged in our auditorium, where we're regularly sanitising surfaces, including cleaning seats and tables thoroughly between performances. We have also placed hand sanitiser dispensers throughout the foyer.
We also ask for your support in keeping our theatre clean and safe and encourage you, and all of our guests and employees, to:
- Always practice good hygiene and wash your hands frequently
- Place rubbish in the bin at the conclusion of your performance
- Cover coughs/sneezes, dispose of tissues and make use of the available hand sanitiser
- Refrain from attending the theatre if you're feeling unwell to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Relaxed Performance
Relaxed performances are special shows for those with sensory needs. Lighting and sound are adjusted, capacity is reduced to allow for freer movement and there is a “chill-out” area in the foyer.
There will be a relaxed performance of Potted Potter on Saturday 9 July at 2pm.
