A filmmaker is invited to Te Whāriki Manawāhine ō Hauraki, a refuge for women, to document its clients and raise awareness about domestic violence. While there she encounters Sasha, Cat and Teresa  – three very different women from different backgrounds each with their own unique story to tell.

Actor Kali Kopae plays five characters in this astounding performance and brings the voices and experiences of survivors and support workers to the stage with respect, integrity and passion.

Thought-provoking and refreshingly honest, Not In Our Neighbourhood showcases the resilience of women facing the many guises of domestic violence.

Winner of Wellington Theatre Awards’ Best New New Zealand Play and Best Female Actor – Kali Kopae, Tikapa Productions’ Not In Our Neighbourhood is powerhouse theatre written and directed by 2013 Bruce Mason Playwriting Award winner Jamie McCaskill, presented in partnership with Taki Rua Productions, The Court Theatre and Fortune Theatre.
