Nīkau Balme

Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama

Nīkau is a Year 13 student at Ngā Puna O Waiōrea, Western Springs College. He has grown up in a full immersion Te Ao Māori education through Puna Reo and Te Kura Kaupapa O Ngā
Maungarongo. He is a passionate participant in all aspects of kapa haka and is currently a performer in his school kapa of Ngā Puna o Waiōrea having just won Polyfest for a third time
running. The Haka Party Incident was his first foray into both theatre, composition and tutoring. He has followed that up as a co-creator of his school’s 2023 production of Autaia Haka Theatre.
He is also Katie’s son.
