Jared Hiakita

Jared hails from the rural settlement of Waimana in The Bay of Plenty and is descended from the Ngāi Tūhoe tribe.

While Jared’s professional background is mostly in community youth development, he is also a musician.

Jared was first introduced to The Court in 2015 as part of the Māori Arts Internship (MAI) Programme through Toi Māori Aotearoa. He has since built this relationship through his employment as Kaihāpai Toi – Māori and Pasifika Producer for The Court as well as his role in The Forge and Taki Rua’s development season of He Kura E Huna Anafor the 2015 Christchurch Arts Festival.
