Gavin Rutherford is a graduate of the UNITEC School of Performing and Screen Arts (Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts). This is his second appearance at The Court Theatre. His previous Court Theatre credit was in Ross Gumbley's Happy Coupling. His other theatre credits include The Lie; Weed; The Father; Three Days in the Country and A View from the Bridge at Circa Theatre.
Gavin's television credits include Top of the Lake; Catching the Black Widow and Mistress Mercy. His film credits include Shopping; Tin Tin and the upcoming short film by Finneus Teppett, Democracy.
Gavin is based in Wellington and is a member of the Circa Theatre Council as well as its Treasurer. For his roles in Uncle Vanya and A View from the Bridge (Circa Theatre), he won Best Supporting and Best Actor Award at the Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.
