Covid-19 Update: due to the change to alert level 2, Promise & Promiscuity will be running this weekend with modifications to keep everyone safe. We must keep the number of people in the building under 100 people at each performance. In order to do this, we've added two more shows this Thursday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 6pm to lower our audience numbers at each showing. Our box office team is currently contacting all patrons to check in about this and confirm bookings. Please contact communications@courttheatre.org.nz if you have any questions or concerns. Kia kaha and stay safe.
Penny Ashton, Christchurch’s favourite bonnet fancier, is back! After wowing the World Buskers Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, Colin Mochrie and the Adelaide Festival to name but a few, Penny Ashton is coming home for one last time with world acclaimed sell out smash-hit, Promise and Promiscuity.
“...see Promise and Promiscuity... thank me later.” - Colin Mochrie.
Follow the fortunes of Miss Elspeth Slowtree as she battles literary snobbery, her mother’s nerves and Cousin Horatio’s digestions, all armed with a superior wit, excellent ukulele skills and generally being quite bright… you know… for a girl. Balls will be attended, crosses will be stitched and manners will be minded, all with not one ankle in sight.

Covid-19 Updates
We are committed to keeping our guests and teams safe and comfortable under Level 2, which means we have made changes around the theatre.

- Contact tracing all patrons
- Regularly sanitising surfaces, with increased cleaning of all surfaces between performances

We ask for your support in keeping our theatre clean and safe, and encourage you and all of our guests and employees to:- Always practice good hygiene and wash your hands frequently
- Place rubbish in the bin at the conclusion of your performance
- Cover coughs/sneezes, dispose of tissues and make use of the available hand sanitiser
- Refrain from attending the theatre if you're feeling unwell
