Show Brief 

Inspired by a true story, an American father “un-adopts” a boy over the internet, fulfilling Robin’s dream of becoming a mum. It’s a decision Peter regrets when he discovers Robin and her partner Ash are not what he expected, and that the boy he was quick to usher out of his life will be growing up without a ‘dad.’

Wolf Play is a highly theatrical, imaginative piece about the primal need for kinship. It tells a messy, funny, and disturbing story of survival, family, and belonging, focusing on a lone wolf desperately seeking his pack.

It poses the question: “What is a family?

Self-tape requirements

All auditionees are invited to include a 1-2 min video, introducing themselves, and perhaps saying why they want to be part of this project. This is not compulsory.

This play is set in America.

An e-copy of the whole script is available for perusal upon request.

Please note: Your tape must be uploaded to a video streaming site and set to unlisted. Any tapes that require downloading will not be accepted.

Ash
Non-binary, born female. Late 20s. Southpaw boxer.
From "Alright stop, what the hell Ash" to "Yeah shut the fuck up"

Robin
Female, 30s. Ash's wife.
From "Okay I know you're still, not on board with this" to "Be mad at me not him"

Ryan
Male late 30s. Robin's brother. A boxing trainer.
Please inform us of any boxing experience you have.

Peter
Male late 30s. A father.

Wolf
Of East Asian descent. Any gender. "A mix of the familiar with the terribly unexpected".
Please do any/all of the opening monologue.
