Casting Notes/expectations - SpongeBob: The Musical Youth Edition has specific casting requirements:

  • The roles in SpongeBob: The Musical Youth Edition are written for an older 'youth' range in comparison to other titles we have presented in the past, this will also be reflected in the general make up of ages in the show. Please be mindful and careful to manage younger performers (and your own) expectations.
  • The lower age limit is 10 years of age as of 1 January 2025, however, we will accept applications from those under this age if they have been part of a previous Junior production including those by other companies, please indicate in application form what show and for what company.
  • The upper age limit is 19 years of age as of 14 July 2025.
  • As per the authors intent the characters can be played by any gender.
  • These Characters are iconic. They are larger than their line count and number of lines sung. They tell the story with their voice and physical movement. We are looking for strong characters, energetic character traits, character choices to help tell our story in a LIVELY way while remaining to be truthful in comedy. “TRUTHFUL and HONEST. Keep it real. Make Joy – find and scatter it”. - Tina Landau

Auditions for Spongebob: The Musical will require the following:
