Zak graduated from the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts in 2014, and was immediately cast by New Zealand Playhouse. He toured productions of The Importance of Being Earnest and Jack Flash and the Jumping Beanstalk as part of both the Australian and New Zealand casts for eleven months in 2015. 

In 2016 he co-devised and appeared in the Court Theatre’s Summertimes production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He then appeared in Hungover at the Basement Theatre, followed by the New Zealand tour of Commander Claire and the Pirates of Provence for the Royal New Zealand Navy.
