Sela began her journey at The Court Theatre in 2008 performing in readings of Angels and My Name is Gary Cooper before playing Stevie in the 2009 season of Angels. In 2013 she also performed in the first Pasifika musical, The Factory.
While working at Ara Institute of Canterbury, Sela co-founded No Limits, a performance group for Māori and Pasifika youth. The Court Theatre collaborated with No Limits in 2013 when they performed Speak Your Truth with 50 Māori and Pacific young people on the mainstage to a sold-out audience.
Sela is also a writer and director and debuted her first play, Matai, in The Forge as a development piece during the 2017 Christchurch Arts Festival and performed on the mainstage as part of The Open House Festival in 2019.
Following a sold-out development season of her new play Love; Mum in 2024, Sela is touring New Zealand this year with an all-female Pacific cast from Christchurch; hitting the NZ Fringe Festival in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch in March 2025.
Sela is married with six beautiful children aged 7 - 22.
