Nina is a graduate of the Ilam School of Fine Arts, Canterbury University (Bachelor of Fine Arts). As a multimedia artist, Oberg Humphries is a self-described cultural hybrid. Her practice explores the contrasts between Cook Islands artifacts, performance, tradition, and western popular culture to create a visual language to represent second-generation New Zealand-born Pacific Islanders.
Nina has exhibited throughout New Zealand including The Physics Room, Enjoy, and St Paul Street Galleries. In 2020, Nina was awarded Canterbury Universities Macmillan Brown Artist in Residence and is currently the Creative New Zealand Mana Moana cohort Scholarship recipient. Nina is the Director and co-founder of Tagata Moana Trust whose mission is to drive STEM pathways through Pacific arts, language, culture and is the cultural lead for the creation of a Pasifika Minecraft World.
