Matu Ngaropo

He recently returned to Aotearoa from touring Australia as first US President George Washington in the original Australian company of Hamilton.

Theatre credits include The Lion King (Australian Tour); The Māori Troilus & Cressida (Shakespeare’s Globe); Othello (Centrepoint); Ngā Bro e Whā (MMQ), Romeo & Juliet (Downstage); Two Worlds (Edinburgh, London, NYC), A Midsummer Nights Dream (Circa Theatre); Te Awarua (Te Rēhia); Hamlet, Macbeth, Measure for Measure and The Comedy of Errors (Pop Up Globe) and Mums Choir (Fortune Theatre).

Last year Matu was fortunate to revisit the role of Scar from The Lion King in the Reo Māori recording of the original Disney animation. And in 2021 he had the privilege of playing rangatira Tā Apirana Ngata in the feature film WHINA.
