Kate Louise (Rongowhakaata) is a graduate of Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School (Bachelor of Performing Arts).
Winding Up marks her Court Theatre debut. She has spent most of her life at Palmerston North's Centrepoint Theatre, having begun there as an actor in 1998.
Kate Louise’s very first professional production out of drama school was with The Court’s Lead Director, Ross Gumbley. She was the General Manager when Dan Pengelly was the Artistic Director at Centrepoint, making this collaboration between The Court and Centrepoint particularly special.
An accomplished theatre actor and director, Kate Louise has spent the last ten years in various arts management roles, including working as the Artistic Director of Centrepoint Theatre from 2009 – 2012 and as the General Manager of Cuba Dupa and NZ Fringe Festival. She is the current General Manager and Artistic Director at Centrepoint Theatre, where she has directed, managed and acted in more than 30 stage productions.
Kate Louise was the first Artistic Director in the Country to programme four consecutive years of Aotearoa work. She is particularly grateful for the relationships and mentoring she has received from members of the industry.
Her television credits as an actor include Shortland Street, Outrageous Fortune and Whānau.
