James graduated in 2013 from the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Music Theatre). After several years performing around New Zealand, James returned to Christchurch where he now freelances in theatre and as a relief teacher in high schools.

James is the leader of Christchurch company, Moonlight Theatre, and directed their first two productions, The Moonlight Cabaret and Fugitive Songs.

James has also recently directed Annie for North Canterbury Musicals and Echo for the Entertainment Company. He has recently performed his two-man show Bromance with his long-time collaborator Paul Fidow and looks forward to doing so again. 

James is excited to perform in RENT and to have the opportunity to understudy the role of Mark.

His performance credits include: West End to Broadway; The Phantom of the Opera; Miss Saigon and Dusty (Musical Theatre Dunedin); Flagons and Foxtrots (Fortune Theatre); WickedLes Misérables; The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber; Miss Saigon and My Fair Lady (unstaged) (Showbiz Christchurch); The Secret Garden (Enchanting Productions); and Jesus Christ Superstar (The Court Theatre).
