James Bell is a graduate of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts - WAAPA (Musical Theatre). RENT is his Court Theatre debut.
He has performed in dozens of mainstage productions in Australia since his mainstage debut as the lead in The Joy of Text for Melbourne Theatre Company in 2011. Other credits include War Horse (Global Creatures); Next to Normal (Black Swan Theatre); Children of the Sun and Black is the New White (Sydney Theatre Company); The Aliens (Old Fitz); John (Outhouse Theatre/Seymour Centre and Fame the Musical (Crown).
James’ feature film credits include Acute Misfortune. James won a Sydney Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor in The Aliens and is an accomplished singer-songwriter and musician with his band Gaspar Sanz.
