Bryce Goddard was born to be involved with Theatre. Born in Mukinbudin, Western Australia, he started his theatre career at the age of 7. He was cast in his first play, Wicked – How NOT to steal a car, about troubled kids and from there it evolved into a love of everything theatrical. Originally destined to be on the stage rather than backstage Bryce worked for many amateur theatre companies throughout Perth before finally getting some backstage work at His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth. From there he thought he was more suited to backstage work than onstage. With no prior training to speak of he learnt everything he knows on the job.
He spent 6 years as a backstage technician there and then became the Head Stage Hand in 2010. Bryce spent 7 years in this position before applying for the job at The Court Theatre, Bryce has worked on varying shows from stand-up comedians to massive opera builds and everything in between. He has toured ballets and operas throughout Australia and also had a brief stint touring a Robotic Dinosaur Exhibit.
Bryce did not have much time in Perth for a personal life, constantly working, so is looking forward to discovering new hobbies and interests in Christchurch. He only saw snow for the first time in his life in September 2017 and is excited to learn how to snowboard or ski. Discovering this beautiful country of New Zealand is a passion for Bryce.
