Ben Kubiak

Ben is a graduate of the University of Auckland (Bachelor of Music, Honours: Classical Voice).

Jesus Christ Superstar is Ben’s debut performance at The Court Theatre. His recent solo engagements include performances with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra; Bach Musica NZ; the Nelson Civic Choir and Inspirare. His ensemble singing includes ongoing work in the New Zealand Opera Chorus and the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Octet. Past performance highlights include performances with Hans Zimmer and Auckland Opera Studio. 

Ben is currently completing a PhD in musicology at the University of Auckland, focusing on the history and aesthetics of rock musical theatre. Whilst at the University he has won awards including the 2016 Graham Allen Prize in Musical Theatre and the 2017 Drake Medal. He also works extensively as a repetiteur, accompanying for ensembles including the Auckland Boys’ Choir and the Royal New Zealand Navy Band.
