Angela Johnson

Angela’s career as a performer and teacher in musical theatre has spanned over 30 years both in Australia and New Zealand.

Her Court Theatre credits include: My Fair Lady; South Pacific and Jerry’s Girls. Other favourite credits include: Cats (Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne); Man of La Mancha (VACT Melbourne and Brisbane); Chess (Theatre Royal, Sydney); A Little Night Music (Sydney Theatre Company); Phantom of the Opera (Cameron Mackintosh); Fiddler on the Roof (Opera Australia); Funny Girl (The Production Company) and The Sound of Music (SEL/Frost Australian tour).

For the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra Angela has appeared as guest soloist on many occasions most recently in A Tribute to Rodgers and Hammerstein and A Tribute to Bernstein and Sondheim.

In 2014 Angela performed to critical acclaim in the Fortune Theatre’s production of Souvenir – a performance for which she was awarded Female Performer of the Year in the Dunedin Theatre Awards. Angela is a Senior Lecturer at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art, Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology.
