Alison Bruce

Alison trained at Auckland’s Theatre Corporate in the early ‘80s where she worked for the next three years before its demise in 1986. She went on to work at The Mercury Theatre and also performed in several productions at the iconic Watershed Theatre. In the early ’90s she began working with physical/devising company Theatre at Large and worked with them on Henry 8Cyrano de Bergerac, and Manawa Taua/Savage Hearts. She has continued her relationship with this style of work, working with the acclaimed Red Leap Theatre company since its inception in 2008, including on their multi award-winning show The Arrival. Alison has worked with Silo Theatre on several shows – among them: Speaking in Tongues, and Holding The Man and also works frequently with the ATC. She was also the Onehunga High School high board diving champ of 1976.

She has worked on many film and television shows over the years. Most recent television credits include Almighty JohnsonsTop of the Lake, and Hillary. She is currently appearing in the new TV series Dirty Laundry. She has been nominated five times for film and television awards, taking three home for Mercy Peak, and the short film Us.
