Ailis holds a Master of Arts in Music Theatre from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London where she earned a distinction. Ailis also received a BA in Theatre Studies from the University of Otago, where she was awarded the OUSA Gold Award for academic and vocational excellence in theatre.
Whilst in London, Ailis originated the role of Bobbi Melrose in the world premiere of Joshua Rosenblum and Joanne Lessner’s new musical Stage Door. Her performance credits at RCSSD include The Seagull and Oh Dear, What Can the Matter Be?
Since returning to New Zealand, Ailis has worked consistently in the theatre industry nationwide. Career highlights include Les Liaisons Dangereuses (The Court Theatre); Shortland Street - The Musical (Auckland Theatre Company); Chicago (The Court Theatre) and CATS (Sierra Investments 2019 national tour). Her other theatre credits include Super Duper!; STEMania! (Echelon Productions national tours); Pippi Longstocking (Tim Bray Productions); Punk Rock (Fortune Theatre) and Hairspray (Showbiz Christchurch).
