As you know, the economic impact of lockdown has informed our decisions on what we can stage, with our Artistic Team planning for an updated 2021 season that will be launched in October. This season will start with Jersey Boys on 21 November 2020 and cover the calendar year of 2021.
In the meantime, we’re thrilled to announce an additional three shows before Jersey Boys takes the stage, starting with comedian James Roque’s Fred Award nominated show, Boy Mestizo. Running for two nights only from 14 – 15 August, Boy Mestizo will be staged in the foyer.
We will reopen our mainstage theatre with a two-week season of Rants in the Dark from 29 August – 12 September. Based on Emily Writes’ best-selling book, this hilarious and heartfelt look at parenting comes to The Court following sell-out seasons throughout the North Island.
Then we welcome the Modern Māori Quartet with the New Zealand premiere of their international hit, Two Worlds from 26 September – 10 October. The award-winning quartet will weave together four stories of heart and revelation that unfold the fabric of Māori musical culture.
We’re so excited to have reopened our doors! You can visit us to book tickets in person Monday to Friday from 11am – 1pm. Our box office will also be open an hour and a half prior to and during showtime for all productions running at The Shed.
Due to popular demand, we’ve added extra performances of Up Close & Personal and Promise & Promiscuity!
Don’t miss Ali Harper and jazzman Tom Rainey’s cabaret showcase, with a new matinee running Saturday 8 August at 2pm.
You can catch Penny Ashton’s award-winning hit Promise & Promiscuity with a new matinee running Saturday 22 August at 2pm.
While decisions for our 2021 Season are still being finalised, we can now confirm that the following productions have been cancelled.
Noises Off (27 March – 24 April 2021)
Original Death Rabbit (3 – 24 April 2021)
The Teddy Bears’ Picnic (21 April – 1 May 2021)
Wasted (22 May – 12 June 2021)
The Gingerbread Man (14 – 24 July 2021)
Due to popular demand, we have rescheduled our season of Ladies Night to open on 1 May 2021 as part of our 2021 Season.
Get your cold coins ready as we open up The Shed for a garage sale packed full of vintage and retro goodies from our overflowing costume department! Prices will range from $2 to $350, as we sell everything from vintage gloves to wedding dresses.
Running on Sunday 2 August 10am – 4pm, bring a gold coin donation to get in on the door, with eftpos available for all other purchases. Help us fundraise while picking up a bargain.
We can’t thank you enough for your support and patience as we have processed all of your credits, donations and refunds. We hope to see you back at the theatre again soon.
