Christchurch City Council says it will soon call for expressions of interest as it looks at providing off-street parking to service the planned Performing Arts Precinct, where The Court will be based upon its return to the city centre.
The Council has been working with The Court on plans and a status report has been prepared for councillors to review this week. It is hoped a feasibility study on the joint Council and Crown project will be available in March.
A main theatre with seating for 360 people and a studio theatre, seating for 120, will be focal points of the project.
A Theatre Working Group comprising Council staff, advisors and The Court’s representatives had made good progress and the council had a clearer understanding of the Court Theatre’s requirements and challenges, Council General Manager, Citizens and Community, Mary Richardson said.
