They’re out of their depth
It’s been a while since Walter, Pat and Mick have seen Stu. He’s been absent from the local working men’s club since Stu wrote off the new boat he spent his life savings on and landed himself in a wheelchair.
Reunited, the men seize the opportunity to enter the local fishing competition to win Stu a replacement boat. All they have to do is catch the biggest fish.
Easy, right?
Well not if you have no fishing skills whatsoever, nor the actual means to catch the fish.
This hilarious new comedy from award-winning playwright Jamie McCaskill takes a look at a bunch of hard-as-nails Māori and Pakeha men navigating life in small-town Aotearoa.

"What a stunning piece of theatre. I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up to go to a show about fishing but it took me completely by surprise. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it gave me all the feels. It's so much more than a standard comedy. There is so much heart, there are such great messages throughout the play, and the performances were incredible. Very very well done and I recommend everyone, especially if you're Kiwi, especially if you've spent any time in a small NZ town (which let's face it, is most of the country) to go and see it.""I really loved this play because it was so relatable. Small town Aotearoa stuff! It took me back to my childhood and teens growing up in Tuakau. I could associate each character with people I knew in the town and all the issues comical, serious and emotive, it was all there.
